Duties
Help
  • The incumbent serves as a program analyst for MCFP within the Office of Spouse Employment (OSE) focused on spouse education and career policies for the military spouse community.
  • Provide oversight of existing policy governing military spouse education and employment.
  • Focus on the identification, development, deployment and maintenance of a variety of policy initiatives as well as general communications outreach related to the well-being of military families
  • Deal with complex issues to respond to the needs of service members and their families by mitigating institutional barriers in policies that create barriers to employment for military spouses.
  • Coordinate with other DoD components and federal agencies to coordinate, adjudicate, and align policy initiatives.
  • Conduct special assignments on complex high-priority issues.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes possessing knowledge on statutory authorities/requirements, regulations, and other internal policies governing military spouse education and employment, managing complex issues to respond to the needs of service members and their families, identifying potential problem areas to propose solutions, tracking new policy required by Congress to facilitate timely implementation, and delivering training to military and civilian audiences on programs and services available for service members and their families. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
