Job Description

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Commercial Services Branch, ensuring commercial service transportation and logistics capabilities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
  • Directs the work of an organization responsible for functional management of commercial services contracts to include Next Generation Delivery Services (NGDS), Global Heavyweight Services (GHS), and Air Tender Program (ATP) requirements.
  • Partners with Directorate of Acquisition (TCAQ) to bring best commercial practices to acquisition of commercial transportation contracts and identifies opportunities for contract consolidation. Evaluates and documents contractor's performance in meeting program objectives.
  • Identifies, integrates, and manages overarching distribution requirements, ensuring organic and contracted capabilities meet the needs of the entire Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE) and Federal agencies.
  • Directs review, refinement, development and marketing of commercially contracted air, surface and ground capabilities for USTRANSCOM.
  • Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Represents the command on distribution and logistics issues at meetings and conferences both within the command and at outside agencies; and serves as a senior representative and spokesperson in communicating program and project matters.

  • Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507.
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Explaining performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses; holding employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments.
  • Developing long-range business strategies that incorporate business practices, customer requirements, supply, and transportation services.
  • Advising on a command's capabilities development; advising on logistics processes and requirements for deployment and distribution
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
