Position Description:
VMX-1 conducts operational tests and evaluations to ensure the effectiveness and suitability of Marine Corps aviation assets, which include UAS, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft.
This position is onsite in Yuma, AZ.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Serve as the command's senior liaison with science and technology (S&T) organizations in government, academia, and industry. Leverage the aviation and technology community to support rapid technology insertions, coordinate demonstrations to validate concepts and technologies, and document results in support of high-priority Marine Corps issues.
. Represent the squadron at meetings with Marine Corps, other services, and military stakeholders to build partnerships, assist with the demonstration of technology, and provide inputs to identify capability gaps.
. Work closely with active-duty test directors, government civilians, industry and contractor support staff to plan for, execute, collect/analyze data, and report on S&T events.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Primary responsibilities include writing test plans and reports for S&T events. This includes coordinating meetings to review planning and reporting products with military, civilian, and contractor stakeholders.
. Organize, draft, and edit event plans scripting the conduct of multi day aviation tests and tactical demonstrations.
. Develop and execute data collection plans to capture technical information and lessons learned from tests events to inform Marine Corps Aviation leadership of the capabilities and limitations of the system under test.
. Leads effort to support Safety Review and Test Readiness reviews. Brief command to show that a thorough assessment has been made to determine the test can be safely conduct and required data captured to support the test objectives.
. Supervise the conduct of aviation related testing and tactical demonstrations to ensure event is executed in accordance with the test plan and data was collected.
. Responsible for the creation and dissemination of test data cards for all test events. At the conclusion of test events, review all data cards for completeness and update data cards as necessary.
. Resolve issues that develop during test including the identification of incomplete data and develop recovery plans to assure all data is captured before test concludes. Record conditions under which failures or issues occurred.
. Provide technical support and create standard methodologies to support test and demonstration planning, execution, and reporting.
. Test conduct involves pre- and post-test briefings for the flight and ground crews. Monitoring testing real time to assure testing is completed as planned. Process, analyze, and report on the test data. Responsible for data reduction and analysis as well as documenting the data analysis process and results.
. Draft and edit technical reports with minimal supervision/ guidance, that will help inform the leadership of Marine Corps Aviation based on the outcomes a
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance. Must be a US Citizen for consideration.
. Clearance Level:
o Must possess a secret clearance or be able to obtain a secret clearance upon hiring
o Must be capable of completing an NCIC criminal background check to access military installations.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or applicable STEM degree (i.e., 800, 1300, and 1500 DOD series positions)
. Four years of experience in test and evaluation.
. Ten years of Aviation Systems related experience.
. Must be able to communicate effectively, using both written and oral communication
Key skills and knowledge required are:
. Experience with RF waveforms, data links (ANW2, WREN-TSM, TTNT v7.0, BE-CDL) and network development.
. Experience and familiarity with military strategic planning
. Must possess analytical thinking and initiative to solve problems with minimal oversight
. Proficient technical writer as applicable to test/demonstration plans, data analysis, deficiencies, and reports of results.
. Work within a team environment to meet rapid timelines, simultaneous development, analysis and testing of multiple new and improved capabilities to support requested warfighter needs.
. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
. Must be able to travel based on program requirements.
. Familiar with military test methods.
Desired Skills:
. ABET accredited B.S. in Electrical/Electronic, Aerospace, Mechanical or Systems Engineering
. Military Aviation Technology experience
. Experience with data reduction and analysis and basic knowledge of analytical software like RStudio, Python, C++, to perform data parsing, analysis, and test automation.
. Flight testing experience
