Job Description:
As a Database Architect in this role, you will be responsible for evaluating legacy Oracle databases that currently support critical business applications. Your primary focus will be to assess the existing infrastructure, identify challenges, and design a comprehensive strategy for migrating data from on-premises Oracle environments to modern cloud platforms. You will be expected to develop detailed migration roadmaps, outlining each phase of the transition and ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations. This position requires you to collaborate closely with application owners and technical teams to ensure that all dependencies and integration points are addressed throughout the migration process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess legacy Oracle databases supporting existing applications to determine current state and dependencies.
- Develop comprehensive data migration roadmaps and plans for transitioning from Oracle to cloud-based solutions.
- Design target database architectures using Postgres on AWS and Azure platforms.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless migration and minimal disruption.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with data migration and cloud adoption.
- Provide technical guidance and best practices for cloud database architecture and migration strategies.
- Document migration processes, architectures, and post-migration support plans.
LCAT Requirements:
7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Oracle databases, as well as a strong background in cloud database migration projects.
- Familiarity with both AWS and Azure services will be essential, as you will be architecting solutions that leverage these platforms for optimal performance and scalability.
- Exposure to Postgres and other cloud-native database technologies will be highly beneficial, as you will be guiding the selection and implementation of the target architecture.
- Experience in developing and executing data migration roadmaps, troubleshooting complex data integration issues, and optimizing database performance in cloud environments will help you succeed in this dynamic and impactful role.
