General Function: .
- Perform engineering management tasks while coordinating with Air Force Life Cycle Management Center organizations and external agencies (e.g., facilities, security, IT, public affairs) to ensure uninterrupted day-to-day program operations.
- Support acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment while providing technical guidance to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E).
- Review and evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variance (RFVs), while maintaining accurate system configuration baselines.
- Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), technology insertion discussions, and technical/programmatic reviews to ensure alignment with system requirements and mission needs.
- Conduct failure analysis and recommend cost-effective solutions to improve system reliability, maintainability, and availability.
- Support full weapon system lifecycle activities, including analysis of alternatives, investment strategy development, design, manufacturing, sustainment, and end-of-life processes.
- Apply Department of Defense and Air Force engineering principles to improve manufacturing, operational performance, re-manufacturing, and demilitarization processes.
- Translate user and operational needs into well-defined system requirements and support development of system architectures and interoperability frameworks.
- Review and analyze technical proposals, specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to ensure consistency with program requirements.
- Participate in IPT meetings, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), design reviews, audits, and in-process reviews (IPRs) to support program execution and technical oversight.
- Assist in requirements development by supporting technical and mission analyses, identifying capability gaps, and performing trade-off studies for proposed system designs.
- Support system design activities, including architecture development, mission analysis, and participation in system requirement reviews, design reviews, and test readiness reviews.
- Conduct engineering analyses of proposed changes and system designs to assess feasibility, compatibility, and compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
- Develop and evaluate engineering schedules and plans, including Integrated Master Plans (IMP), integrated Master Schedules (IMS), and Systems Engineering Detail Schedules (SEDS), along with cost estimates.
- Support system and subsystem integration efforts, ensuring proper verification, validation, and interoperability across components and platforms.
- Perform lifecycle cost, performance, reliability, maintainability, and risk analyses, including trade-off studies to optimize system effectiveness and affordability.
- Coordinate with management and technical stakeholders, supporting boards and committees to resolve engineering issues and implement program decisions.
- Evaluate and analyze technical data items such as specifications, drawings, plans, proposals, and lifecycle cost estimates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and review key engineering documentation (e.g., Systems Engineering Plans, System Requirements Documents, OSS&E baselines) and support risk management in accordance with AFI 63-101.
- Provide technical planning and support for training systems, program protection, and security documentation (e.g., PPPs, SCGs, Anti-Tamper plans), while assisting in technology assessments, risk evaluations, and engineering support for simulations, aeronautical systems, and human factors engineering.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- MA/MS Degree with 10 years of directly related experience or BA/BS with 12 years of directly related
experience or 15 years of directly related experience to this discipline. - Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret level.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project).
- Must be able to perform all functional duties independently.
- Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
