Job Description

Duties
Help
  • Maintain current purchasing information and catalogs.
  • Research, or assist staff member in researching, potential purchase to ensure highest value and most appropriate item election possible based on standard established by management.
  • Use the established supply system, and input from the staff, ensure that appropriate item are ordered so that clinic operations are never hindered by a lack of supplies.
  • Advise staff members on the proper usage of the established supply system to enable/facilitate direct order entry.
  • Distribute received item expeditiously and facilitate proper storage/usage.
  • Assist staff in the proper disposal of expired, damaged, or unnecessary supplies as appropriate.
  • Keep management, and the involved clinical area, advised of status of pending orders and any/all supply-related problems within the clinic.
  • Assist in budget management decisions and provide input regarding budget formulation. Manage and execute a quarterly OPT AR.
  • Design or generate daily, weekly, and monthly computerized reports on the usage of service, supplies and a sociable expenditure.
  • Make supply runs and other duties as needed, utilizing a government vehicle.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) completing inventory management of all items necessary to support the clinic to include all medical and dental equipment, medical and dental supplies, clerical supplies, radiological supplies, laboratory supplies, dental laboratory equipment/supplies, and medication; and (2) examining received items carefully to note overages, shortages, or damage incurred in shipping/handling and make adjustments as appropriate. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Supply Chain Management or Logistics. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-5).
