We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to support quality engineering and software validation activities across enterprise technology initiatives within large Federal environments. This role is responsible for designing and executing test strategies that validate functionality, integrations, workflows, data accuracy, performance, security, and compliance requirements. The Test Engineer works closely with developers, analysts, UX teams, operations staff, and Government stakeholders to ensure solutions are delivered with high reliability, usability, and quality. This position contributes to structured testing practices across Agile delivery cycles and supports predictable, high-quality release outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, scripts, scenarios, and test data supporting functional, integration, regression, system, and acceptance testing.

• Perform manual and automated testing of applications, interfaces, integrations, APIs, data transfers, and web services.

• Design and support test automation frameworks and scripts to improve regression coverage and delivery efficiency.

• Validate system workflows, user interactions, business rules, and data outputs against requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Execute test cycles, document results, and log defects with clear severity, reproducibility, and remediation details.

• Conduct regression testing to confirm resolution of defects and ensure new enhancements do not impact existing functionality.

• Support performance testing activities and assist in analyzing system behavior, scalability, and reliability metrics.

• Collaborate with development, security, UX, and product teams to clarify requirements and improve solution quality.

• Maintain test artifacts including test plans, test summary reports, traceability matrices, defect logs, and testing metrics.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives to support continuous testing.

• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by preparing validated test scenarios and assisting with issue resolution.

• Monitor testing progress and provide regular status updates on risks, issues, and quality trends.

• Ensure testing activities align with accessibility, security, and performance considerations where applicable.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, automation practices, and quality standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance engineering, or quality engineering roles.

• Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, system, and acceptance testing methodologies.

• Experience performing both manual and automated testing within enterprise application environments.

• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms).

• Working knowledge of Agile software development practices and iterative testing cycles.

• Experience validating system integrations, workflows, APIs, and data processing logic.

• Ability to analyze system requirements and translate them into structured test scenarios.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical and functional audiences.

• Ability to manage testing activities across multiple environments and concurrent initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

• Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.

• Experience with test automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Provar, Cypress, or similar solutions).

• Familiarity with performance testing concepts and tools.

• Understanding of Section 508 accessibility considerations within testing activities.

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps delivery environments, or automated quality gates.

• Awareness of software quality metrics such as defect density, defect leakage, test coverage, and release cadence.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

CLEARANCE:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

WORK LOCATION:

• Remote
