In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of complex technical functions to interpret, order, receive, store, and dispense pharmaceuticals from routine to complex controlled substances; processing medication orders by using computerized order entry in and extraction of pertinent drug data from patient charts and/ or through patient interview; interpreting the appropriate information and data to identify patient requirements relative to their specific needs.
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. - Processes medication orders by using computerized order entry in and extraction of pertinent drug data from patient charts and/ or through patient interview.
- Interprets the appropriate information and data to identify patient requirements relative to their specific needs.
- Clarifies questionable orders with ordering medical provider for instances such as requests for an unknown medication or illegible/ unclear orders and/ or may recommend acceptable substitutes.
- Answers routine questions concerning proper use, dosage, administration, drug interaction, and side effects of medications.
- Performs substantial bulk compounding, including complex products.
- Identifies problems independently and adjusts accordingly for final screening by Pharmacist. Performs complex assessment of compound products utilizing test equipment adjusting to proper concentrations in solutions and visual inspections.
- Prepares, stores, and issues sterile and non-sterile drug preparations following established guidelines. Deviation may be necessary with consultation with the Pharmacist.
