Job Description

Title:
Commercial Engagement Lead - Government Programs

KBR is seeking a Commercial Engagement Lead to support a Government customer in identifying, engaging, and integrating commercial capabilities to address mission-critical needs.

This role serves as the primary bridge between the Government program office and commercial industry, building foundational relationships, piloting repeatable engagement processes, and developing the initial framework that can be scaled into a dedicated team over time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between commercial companies and the Government program office, coordinating engagements to ensure alignment with mission priorities.
  • • Plan and execute a focused set of industry engagement activities, including vendor days, curated one-on-one sessions, technical interchange meetings, and related follow-up actions.
  • • Maintain a working portfolio and registry of commercial companies and capabilities, mapping them to near-term mission needs and tracking touchpoints, outcomes, and engagement status.
  • • Work with Government stakeholders to document priority operational gaps and translate them into commercially understandable problem statements to inform RFIs, tech sprints, and other engagements.
  • • Conduct early-stage market research and develop simple tools (templates, spreadsheets, comparison frameworks) to capture and assess commercial offerings, whitepapers, and demonstrations against defined requirements.
  • • Draft and refine standard operating procedures and playbooks for how the program engages industry, and coordinate with contracting and legal teams to identify and document preferred teaming and agreement paths.
  • • Monitor commercial trends and provide concise recommendations to Government leadership on where commercial innovation and partnerships can have the most immediate impact on mission outcomes.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • An active security clearance (Secret minimum; TS/SCI preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in defense, government programs, or related industry engagement roles
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating between Government customers and commercial vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical requirements into clear, commercially understandable language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adaptable and flexible; comfortable operating in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments where processes and priorities are still being defined.
  • Collaborative team player who works well across diverse stakeholders including Government customers, contracting teams, and industry partners.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to roll up their sleeves, take initiative, and contribute beyond defined boundaries when the mission requires it.
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to think outside traditional frameworks; this is a new and evolving role that requires someone who can explore options, challenge assumptions, and develop innovative approaches to industry engagement.

Desired:
  • Familiarity with defense acquisition processes, OTAs, CSOs, or similar mechanisms.
  • Experience supporting Space Force, CFC, SSC, or related defense space programs.
  • Background in market research, capability analysis, or requirements development.
