Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications supporting advanced missile defense systems. This role focuses on building scalable, resilient services using Java and Spring Boot to support integration of PAC-3 missile systems into complex Command and Control (C2) environments.
The ideal candidate has experience in distributed systems, defense or aerospace integration, and thrives in a high-assurance, mission-critical development environment.
Program Overview
Gauge Engineering Services is an established subcontractor supporting multiple new development efforts related to the Aegis systems. We are looking to expand our team to bring on skilled systems engineers to support the advancements of these programs.

What You’ll Do
Design and develop microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot
Contribute to integration efforts supporting PAC-3 missile systems within Command and Control (C2) architectures
Develop RESTful APIs and backend services for real-time and near-real-time data processing
Collaborate with systems engineers, integration teams, and cybersecurity personnel to ensure system interoperability and compliance
Participate in full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment
Implement containerization and orchestration solutions (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) where applicable
Ensure code quality through unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews
Support system integration, lab testing, and fielding activities
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects in complex, distributed environments
Maintain documentation in accordance with defense and regulatory standards
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field
Active Secret security clearance
3+ years of professional software development experience
Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
Experience developing microservices architectures
Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
Understanding software development best practices and secure coding standards
Ability to work in a team-oriented, Agile development environment
Desired Skills
Experience in defense, aerospace, or missile systems integration
Familiarity with Command and Control (C2) systems
Experience with PAC-3 missile systems or similar weapon systems
Knowledge of messaging frameworks (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
Experience with cloud or hybrid environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST)
