About The Role:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading software defense technology company, is seeking a Director of Contracts to be part of our Business Strategy team and based out of our Arlington, VA location.
The Director of Contracts is a strategic growth leader within IDT's Business Strategy organization, responsible for shaping the contractual frameworks that enable the company to operate as a rapid integrator within the DoD ecosystem. This role goes beyond traditional contract administration-serving as a strategic thinker who structures compliant, scalable prime and subcontract relationships that accelerate award, protect margin, allocate risk appropriately, and enable collaboration with both traditional defense contractors and non-traditional technology partners. The Director plays a central role in aligning contractual strategy with capture priorities, and long-term growth objectives.

What You Will Do:
IDT is seeking a Director of Contracts to serve as a leader for the Contracts and Subcontracts function and a key strategic partner in the growth and risk posture of the business. As a contracts subject matter expert, this role is responsible for negotiation, execution, and administration of contracts while proactively influencing enterprise-level decisions that impact revenue growth, competitive positioning, compliance posture, and risk allocation.
This leadership role oversees the full lifecycle of prime contracts and subcontracts-from RFP review and risk assessment through negotiation, execution, performance oversight, and closeout.

- This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 3 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA location.
What You Will Do:
IDT is seeking a Director of Contracts to serve as a leader for the Contracts and Subcontracts function and a key strategic partner in the growth and risk posture of the business. As a contracts subject matter expert, this role is responsible for negotiation, execution, and administration of contracts while proactively influencing enterprise-level decisions that impact revenue growth, competitive positioning, compliance posture, and risk allocation.
This leadership role oversees the full lifecycle of prime contracts and subcontracts-from RFP review and risk assessment through negotiation, execution, performance oversight, and closeout.
- Lead the development and execution of prime contract and subcontract negotiation strategies aligned with IDT's strategic growth plan and rapid integration objectives.
- Influence and facilitate strategic decision-making by advising leadership on contractual rights, obligations, risk posture, pricing structures, and negotiation positioning.
- Partner with Capture, Business Development, Pricing, and Program Leadership to structure compliant prime-sub relationships that accelerate award and execution.
- Architect subcontracting structures and teaming arrangements that enable collaboration with traditional defense primes, small businesses, and non-traditional technology partners.
- Led continuously refinement of well-established policies and processes, contracting framework, and documentation standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and audit readiness across the portfolio.
- Manage and oversee all prime contract and subcontract requirements to ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and applicable flowdown requirements.
- Assess, identify, analyze, mitigate, and control contractual and subcontract risks and opportunities across the portfolio.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team of four Contracts and Subcontracts professionals.
- Ensure readiness for DCAA, DCMA, and customer audits, including subcontract compliance oversight.
Who You Are (Required):
- Bachelor's degree in related major, or equivalent full-time professional experience.
- 15+ years of full-time experience in DOD contracts and / or subcontracts administration
- Demonstrated experience leading Contracts and/or Subcontracts teams in a management capacity.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed
- Expert knowledge of FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and federal subcontract flowdown requirements.
- Thorough understanding of procurement strategies, contract formation, complex negotiations, cost-type contracts, data rights, and performance management.
- Demonstrated ability to structure strategic subcontracting arrangements that enable rapid integration of partners.
- Proven experience assessing and mitigating contractual and subcontract risk while identifying strategic opportunities.
- Strong ability to prioritize competing demands and manage deadlines in a fast-paced DoD environment.
- Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and facilitate executive-level strategic decision-making.

What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience with Department of Navy contracts.
- Experience with cost-type completion and Technical Instruction contracts.
- Demonstrated experience across a diverse range of contract vehicles, including FAR-based contracts and OTAs.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint.
