Job Description

Duties
Help
  • You will be responsible for quality control and final determination ratings of investigations, inspections and other reports or communications directed to higher authorities and released by the Command Inspector General (CIG).
  • You will develop command wide policies, procedures and strategies concerning Inspector General Hotline investigations/inquiries.
  • You will receives and analyze incoming complaints from a number of delivery methods and sources, identify required resources, determine urgency, priority, and then determine the proper course of action to resolve the complaint
  • You will develop command wide policies, procedures, and strategies and make recommendations which change or influence the development or modification of significant policies and programs.
  • You will provides daily supervision and oversight of the CIG staff to include, prioritizing and managing workload.
  • You will formulate allegations, evaluate evidence, determine witnesses to be interviewed, and prepare clear, concise, accurate, and unbiased reports supported by legally sufficient evidence
  • You will monitor social media websites and respond to allegations from multiple sources that are sensitive in nature and could bring discredit upon the command or the Marine Corps.

  • You will be required to attend one professional development class or symposium yearly to remain credentialed as a Assistant Command Inspector General.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting investigations, inspections, and congressional inquiries for fraud, waste, mismanagement, misconduct, violation of law, regulations, and policies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Additional information

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
