Job Description

Duties

  • Serve as the document destruction control specialist. Receive both scheduled and unscheduled classified and sensitive unclassified material up to and including Top Secret SCI waste (paper, plastic, CD-ROM, computer hard drives and memory chips) in properly marked containers and store for future destruction for all internal and external members of the 16th Air Force to include, but not limited to 16 AF staff offices, collocated units, tenant units, subordinate units in the San Antonio area, and 16 AF-gained Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve units and NSA supported units.
  • Serve as the print plant specialist and principal administrative assistant to the print plant section, in tasks requiring design, development, adoption and portrayal of statistical, and information data.
  • Prepare and submit GPO purchase orders with detailed specifications for the commercial printers' guidance, covering all phases of production requirements.

  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
Qualifications

This is a GG-09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-09 duties for the " Technician/Administrative Support" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-09 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience includes determining specifications for the printing of manuscript, i.e., selection of typography, layout, composition, format, paper stock, and other printer's instructions; negotiating or administering contracts for procurement of manuscript and illustrations, printing, binding and allied services, or printing stocks (paper, inks, etc.); managing a printing plant that produces printing either for the government or private industry customers; performing production control work in a large printing plant; serving as a sales representative for a wide variety of printing equipment; analyzing the price and cost of preparation and production of printing; planning, estimating, and scheduling printing on a full-time basis for a variety of publications; and Performing substantive administrative support or policy functions directly related to publishing and printing program management or operations. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in journalism, business administration, English composition, commerce, accounting, printing or printing engineering, graphic or commercial art, industrial engineering, or economics or other fields related to the position, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of sound printing management, principles, techniques, and application for an effective and efficient federal printing program. Basic operating and mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot system malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations to include Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat suites. Techniques in charting and/or graphing statistical data and ability to create and maintain electronic spreadsheets, utilizing Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of information security procedures for handling, distribution and destruction of classified materials and ability to perform inspections of equipment and classified materials.
  • Knowledge of industrial and office equipment that performs document destruction.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and guidelines and Ability to interpret and apply instructions, specifications, and guidelines relating to classified material, destruction equipment operability and maintenance, OSHA and EPA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; brief leadership on metrics.
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
