Power BI UI Developer - Remote - Active Secret Clearance Required!
The Power BI UI Developer - Enterprise Common Operational Picture (COP) is responsible for designing and developing executive-level dashboards and data visualizations that provide a unified operational view of enterprise performance, IT operations, and mission-critical metrics for CIO leadership.
This role supports the creation of an Enterprise Common Operational Picture (COP) by integrating data from multiple systems and presenting it through intuitive, interactive Power BI dashboards that enable real-time situational awareness and strategic decision-making.
The developer works closely with enterprise architects, data engineers, and business stakeholders to transform complex operational data into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Dashboard Development
Data Visualization and UI/UX Design
o Operational status indicators
o Trend analysis
o Risk heatmaps
o Portfolio performance dashboards
o Dynamic filtering and slicers
o Tooltips and bookmarks
o Hierarchical drill-down reporting
Required Qualifications
o DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
o Power Query (M)
o Data modeling concepts (star schema, relationships)
o Azure or cloud monitoring platforms
o Security monitoring tools (SIEM)
o Financial or program management systems
• Experience with Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Dataverse, Data Lake).
• Knowledge of enterprise reporting governance and data standards.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Dashboard Development
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports that support a CIO-level Enterprise Common Operational Picture (COP).
- Create intuitive visualizations that summarize enterprise health, operational performance, and mission readiness.
- Build dashboards that support enterprise-level situational awareness and executive decision-making.
Data Visualization and UI/UX Design
- Develop high-quality visual interfaces using Power BI best practices.
- Implement executive-friendly visualizations including:
o Operational status indicators
o Trend analysis
o Risk heatmaps
o Portfolio performance dashboards
- Design dashboards optimized for rapid interpretation and minimal cognitive load.
- Enterprise Data Integration
- Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems and platforms including operational, financial, and performance data sources.
- Work with data engineers to ensure reliable, consistent, and authoritative data sources.
- Support integration of data via APIs, databases, and enterprise data platforms.
- Interactive Reporting Features
- Implement advanced Power BI features including:
o Dynamic filtering and slicers
o Tooltips and bookmarks
o Hierarchical drill-down reporting
- Enable users to move from enterprise-level views to detailed operational insights.
- Data Modeling and Performance Optimization
- Develop and maintain efficient data models using Power BI and DAX.
- Optimize dashboards for performance, scalability, and enterprise usage.
- Ensure reports support large datasets and enterprise-level workloads.
- Governance and Security
- Ensure dashboards comply with enterprise data governance and security policies.
- Implement role-based access controls within Power BI Service.
- Maintain consistent KPI definitions and standardized reporting across dashboards.
- Collaboration and Requirements Analysis
- Collaborate with CIO leadership, enterprise architects, data engineers, and program stakeholders to define dashboard requirements.
- Translate operational and business needs into effective data visualizations and reporting solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-7+ years of experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI.
- Strong experience with data visualization design and dashboard UI development.
- Proficiency with:
o DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
o Power Query (M)
o Data modeling concepts (star schema, relationships)
- Experience working with SQL databases and enterprise data sources.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear visual insights for executive audiences.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise or government CIO dashboards or Common Operational Picture (COP) systems.
- Familiarity with enterprise IT operations data, cybersecurity metrics, or operational performance monitoring.
- Experience integrating data from platforms such as:
o Azure or cloud monitoring platforms
o Security monitoring tools (SIEM)
o Financial or program management systems
• Experience with Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Dataverse, Data Lake).
• Knowledge of enterprise reporting governance and data standards.
