Help
- You will assess work practices to identify the population at risk and to detect violations of public health standards.
- You will provide consultation and advice to activities on occupational health problems and concerns.
- You will review facility plans for new construction, renovation and modification of existing structures for appropriate engineering controls to control hazardous materials, noise and physical hazards.
- You will evaluate the results of sampling performed by themselves, other industrial hygienists or industrial hygiene technicians to statistically determine if occupational exposure are in excess of published health standards.

- Experience applying industrial hygiene concepts, principles, and practices carrying out all industrial hygiene programs.
- Experience assisting in the devising of control measures for ventilation, shielding, material, substitution, and change in work procedures.
- Experience assisting in the evaluation occupational health hazards to include those for which the nature and extent of hazards is not completely understood.
- Experience drafting industrial hygiene policy and guidance for occupational health and safety professionals.
GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of GS-11 experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience applying industrial hygiene concepts, principles, and practices carrying out all industrial hygiene programs for a command.
- Experience with federal, state, Department of Defense (DoD), and department of the Navy (DON) occupational health laws, policies, regulations, guidelines, methodologies, and objectives in the development and implementation of a region-wide industrial hygiene program.
- Experience devising control measures for ventilation, shielding, material, substitution, and change in work procedures.
- Experience providing consultation and advice to activities on occupational health problems and concerns, when requested.
- Experience drafting industrial hygiene policy and guidance for occupational health and safety professionals.

- A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or
- A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or
- Certification from the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (formerly American Board of Industrial Hygiene(external link) (ABIH)).
