The United States Space Force (USSF) Headquarters Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for an Enterprise Network Architect (NH-2210-04, GS 14/15 equivalent).

Description:
The United States Space Force's (USSF) Headquarter Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC) is seeking an experienced Enterprise Network Architect skilled in planning, requirements, and logistics. The United States Space Force (USSF) is seeking an expert Enterprise Network Architect to serve as the primary technical authority for its advanced space systems. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starting leader responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the highly specialized and secure network architecture that enables critical missions, including satellite command and control and secure communications. This role requires you to map mission-relevant cyber terrain, evaluate emerging technologies like SDN and Zero Trust, and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all network infrastructure. Applicants must possess expert knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP), operating systems (Cisco, Juniper), specialized satellite communication techniques, and cybersecurity principles. You will be expected to collaborate effectively with key partners across the DoD and intelligence community, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex projects in a dynamic environment. An advanced technical degree is highly desirable.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Expert knowledge of network architecture principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)), switching technologies (e.g., VLANS, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and network security principles. Extensive experience with network operating systems and platforms, such as Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, and specialized embedded operating systems used in satellite and ground-based systems.
2. Deep understanding of specialized communication protocols and technologies used in space-based systems, such as satellite communication protocols (e.g., Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite Second Generation (DVB-S2)), Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS), and secure data transmission techniques. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, including encryption, authentication, access control, and intrusion detection/ prevention systems.
3. Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain highly secure and resilient network architectures in challenging environments, including space and remote locations. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex network issues in real-time, using specialized diagnostic tools and techniques.
4. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and work independently in a dynamic and challenging environment. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of subordinate organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
6. Knowledge of Competitive Sourcing, Privatization, Business Processes, and Reengineering. Knowledge of project management methodologies and the ability to manage network projects effectively.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • An advanced degree in a technical field, i.e. Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, and/or Management is desirable.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS is authorized. Incentive is not authorized.

The 2210 series has an individual occupational requirement that must be met and can be viewed . There is no Group Coverage Qualification Standard for this series.
