2) Training personnel in fire protection and prevention, structural, shipboard, aircraft, wildland Firefighting and hazardous materials; and
3) Identifying developmental and training needs of firefighting personnel.

You will be required to complete training, obtaining, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel- related purchases.
Functions as the initial On-Scene Commander for disasters, major aircraft crash fire incidents, major structural fires, hazardous materials and hazardous waste incidents and test exercises until relieved by higher authority.
Physical Demands: You will climb, stoop and walk and subject to exhaustive physical demands in firefighting and rescue for long arduous hours.
Work Environment: The work is mostly accomplished in an office setting but includes extended periods outdoors involving hazardous firegrounds operations in a hot arid climate. At times you could be subject to excessive noise levels created by jet aircraft.
- You will supervise and develop the workforce through mentorship, discipline and reward to achieve a highly effective response team.
- You will provide Command and Control authority during emergency responses to control and mitigate the emergency situation, stop the loss of life, and restore mission capability.
- You will maintain up to date- records of test on fire equipment (e.g., fire hose, ladders, apparatus, self contained breathing apparatus, fire hydrants, etc.) and document Enterprise Safety Application Management System (ESAMS).
- You will manage the firefighters medical and physicals programs and document in ESAMS.
- You will manage the completion of firefighters training requirements and documents in ESAMS.
- You will document time and attendance in the Standard Labor Data Collection and Distribution Application program.
- You will prepare a Pre-Fire-Plan for structures, ships and aircrafts in accordance with fire protection standards.
- You will schedule work assignments to maintain minimum manning levels necessary to achieve the mission of the fire department.
- You will plan work schedules to ensure accomplishment of duties, goals, and deadlines.
- You will provide firefighting training to personnel to ensure that all personnel are in compliance with federal regulations and procedures.

- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- Work requires certification in Emergency Vehicle Operators Courses (EVOC). Must posses a valid state driver's license and base operators permit for vehicles assigned to Fire Department.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You must participate in and meet and/or exceed the standards of the DoD Firefighter Physical Fitness program.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will work 24 hour rotating shifts. The position also requires that you work nights, weekends, holidays, and may be subject to recall.
