Who We Are ( video )

At JRC, we tackle some of the toughest challenges faced by the Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies. Our expertise in engineering innovation and semiconductor technologies allows us to deliver mission-critical microelectronics solutions, aerospace systems engineering, and cutting-edge research and development. By joining JRC, you'll be part of a team that supports strategic deterrence and defense missions, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the United States and its allies.

Join JRC's Missiles & Space Team!

Step into a pivotal role supporting the Fleet Liaison Officer within the PMOSSP Pittsfield Detachment, where your expertise will help shape the technical backbone of some of the Navy's most advanced shipboard systems.

As the Technical Editor, you'll work at the intersection of engineering, documentation, and program coordination-driving the creation, review, and management of critical technical data for systems including the SSBN/SSGN Fire Control System, Attack Weapons Control System, SWSMIN, and Weapons Training Systems. This is a hands-on opportunity to influence standards, refine processes, and ensure the accuracy and clarity of essential technical and procedural documents that keep mission‑critical platforms operating at their best.

What You'll Do
  • Support the FLO in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and methods for managing design disclosure documentation, fleet‑use technical manuals, and SSBN/SSGN system drawing packages.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to review and authenticate technical data packages, including new and revised drawings and procedural documents such as SOPs, SMPs, and CMPs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and revision control for spare parts and sparing plans across multiple agencies and facilities.
  • Review technical design packages through the lens of fleet experience, recommending improvements to ensure new designs meet end‑user needs and align with SSBN/SSGN procedural standards, IETM requirements, and training expectations.
  • Assist in planning and preparing IV&V efforts for SWS and AWS Fleet Documentation deliverables.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on technical documentation quality, procedural accuracy, and the Trouble Failure Report (TFR) program. Provides additional technical editing and program support to the FLO as required.

What You Bring
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of DoD/DoN related technical writing experience supporting various engineering tasks
  • An active government security clearance at the SECRET level.
  • Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work in a team environment with little direction, and the ability to work independently while prioritizing and supporting multiple tasks. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of writing principles and conventions and of the documentation process specific to DoD
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of technical publishing including layout, design, and graphics.

Bonus Points
  • Prior missile technician experience associated with the SSBN Trident II D5 missile system
