DUTY 1: Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the squadron. Manages assigned maintenanceresources and ensures production meets operational requirements and technical standards.
DUTY 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include personnel and positionmanagement, equal opportunity, security, and safety. Advises employees regarding policies, procedures anddirectives of management.
DUTY 3: Represents organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION.
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at 442 MAINTENANCE SQ with the Military Rank: Lt Col/O-5, AFSC: 021A3.

In order to qualify, you must meet the special experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent which includes the planning, directing, organizing, coordinating maintenance activities and funding of aircraft maintenance functions and comprehensive and detailed knowledge of aircraft maintenance functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 or above grade/ level or equivalent position in the federal service.
Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:Broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations. Knowledge of basic operating principles of assigned aircraft systems and components; basic munitions, munitions procedures and quality assurance and other unit operations. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of maintenance information systems. Knowledge and ability to interpret instructions, specifications, technical orders, publications and operating procedures. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Incumbent works under the direction of the Senior ART/Group Commander who delegates areas of responsibility and is available for consultation when controversies arise. Incumbent independently plans, organizes, and directs the work of the squadron to achieve organizational goals and objectives, meet customer needs, and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and higher headquarters policies and directives. Work is reviewed in terms of overall mission support and attainment of organizational goals.
Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force
Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training
assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned
some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. May be required to fly in
commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. AFRC command-wide geographic mobility is a condition of employment for all ART officer positions. May act in the absence of higher level supervisor up to and including the Group Commander. This is a key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence training
policies of the unit to which assigned. This is a designated key position in accordance with HQ AFRC/DPCS
Attachment 17 to the guideline FPM 930-71; the term "key' as it is used here relates to the ART program that
defines the position as critical to the unit's mobilization capability and has no relationship to the term "key" as
defined in AFI 36-507. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air
Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice
drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of
the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
