Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking either a Software Product Owner - Level 3 or Software Product Owner - Level 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.

Furthermore, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

In this role, the selected candidate will work in tandem with a scrum team of approximately 8 software engineers and will be responsible for defining the product vision and managing the product backlog, ensuring that all features align with business objectives. The selected candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize tasks and facilitate the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Additionally, the candidate will incorporate user feedback to continuously refine the product roadmap and drive innovation in response to evolving customer needs. Software development is done within the Agile paradigm using the Atlassian tool suite.

As a Software Developer, you will have experience in software engineering, development across the full software life cycle, and experience working with DevSecOps processes and cloud platforms. The candidate will design, develop, document, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain applications software for Ground Segment Functions for a system, supporting a program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission. The candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication skills and is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment. The candidate should be highly self-motivated, reporting information to leads and the customer. The candidate is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, find unique solutions, and work in a very collaborative and fast-paced environment that continues to grow.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Design, build, and implement scalable, secure mission capabilities and features on Linux/Unix.
  • Drive software development on Linux/Unix using TypeScript, Angular, Node.js, React, and/or Vue.
  • Lead a scrum team of approximately 8 engineers, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and fostering a culture of code quality, test driven development, and continuous learning.
  • Own and prioritize a backlog, craft user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
  • Drive sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews while maintaining alignment with product vision and mission goals.
  • Conduct demos and briefings for customers and senior leadership.
  • Translate feedback into actionable service enhancements.
  • Ensure seamless integration of capabilities, epics, and features with ground satellite software solutions.
  • Utilize Atlassian tool suite, including Jira dashboards, Confluence knowledge bases, eazyBI reports, and custom JQL queries.
  • Execute program tasking and software development using Agile methodologies and cloud platforms.
  • Drive development and execution of features for the satellite ground systems domain with familiarity in reading CAMEO/MBSE models.
  • This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Software Product Owner - Level 3: 5 years of software development experience with Bachelor's degree; 3 years of stated experience with Master's degree; 1 year of stated experience with PhD; an additional 4 years of stated experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Software Product Owner - Level 4: 8 years of software development experience with Bachelor's degree; 6 years of stated experience with Master's degree; 4 years of stated experience with PhD; an additional 4 years of stated experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience as a Software Engineer building front-end applications with at least two of the following technologies: Typescript, Angular, Node.js, React, or Vue
  • Proven expertise in developing applications on Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, and Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
  • Strong ability to define and articulate a clear product vision and goals for Agile teams
  • Demonstrated success in prioritizing and managing a product backlog, including the creation of user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria
  • Experience leading stakeholder demos and reviews, effectively integrating iterative feedback into the development process
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain aDOD Top Secret clearance and SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate's maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Ability to interpret CAMEO/MBSE models effectively
  • Previous experience developing Command and Control software for Satellite Ground Systems
  • Experience working within a DevOps pipeline
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
