NAVAIR – Electrical Engineer – Senior (Gov’t Onsite)
Location: St. Inigoes, MD (Pax River Area)
Work Type: 100% On-Site
Clearance: Active Secret (Required)
Program: CI&IDS / Combat Identification (IFF)
Salary: $160,000 – $182,000 (DOE)
Position Overview
Advantech GS Enterprises is seeking an immediate/ Senior Electrical Engineer with strong hands-on design, integration, and troubleshooting experience to support the NAVAIR CI&IDS (Combat Identification) program.
This role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of supporting the full engineering lifecycle across RF-based IFF systems, including design, integration, test, troubleshooting, and certification in a government lab and operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead hands-on electrical design, integration, and testing for IFF / Combat ID systems
Support RF systems including interrogators, transponders, and identification subsystems
Perform advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis at system and component level
Develop:
Test plans
Test procedures
Test reports
Technical documentation (ICDs, specs, manuals)
Support system integration, verification, and T&E activities
Provide technical leadership and mentorship
Support configuration management, obsolescence, and lifecycle sustainment
Contribute to certification and airworthiness artifacts
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Degrees should be in the following fields: Electrical Engineering is highly preferred. But will consider Computer Engineering degrees as they do get coursework in firmware design, SW, and electronics.
electrical/electronic engineering experience
Hands-on electronic design experience OR deep expertise in system integration, T&E, and advanced troubleshooting
Experience across the engineering lifecycle (design, integration, test, troubleshooting)
Strong experience with:
RF systems
IFF / Combat Identification systems
Transponders / Interrogators
Proven experience:
Writing test procedures, test reports, and technical documentation
System integration and verification
Using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.)
Minimum 4 years supporting DoD/DON programs
Active Secret clearance
Highly Desired
Exposure to Computer Engineering disciplines (firmware, embedded systems, digital electronics) in support of hardware integration
PCB design, embedded systems, or firmware integration experience
Deep IFF domain experience (Centralized IFF, Digital Interrogators, SARTIS, NCTR)
Strong system integration + T&E background
Failure analysis / root cause expertise
Obsolescence management experience
Prior Navy / NAVAIR / Pax River / St. Inigoes experience desired
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and demonstrated hands-on experience in electronics design, system integration, or advanced troubleshooting of RF-based systems.
Computer Engineering backgrounds may be relevant only when supporting embedded systems or hardware integration, but do not replace the EE degree requirement.
