Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a Deterrence Research Analyst to provide analytical, technical, programmatic, legislative, and governance support across the Department of the Air Force (DAF/A10) nuclear enterprise. This role supports the sustainment, modernization, and strategic oversight of U.S. deterrence capabilities, including the nuclear stockpile, NC3 systems, and related programs. The analyst integrates complex data from multiple domains to inform senior leader decision-making, support high-level governance forums, interagency coordination, and Congressional engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on nuclear stockpile sustainment, modernization, and NC3 capabilities to support policy development and decision-making.
  • Develop executive-level briefings, decision papers, talking points, and other materials for senior leaders.
  • Support senior leader participation in governance forums, including the Nuclear Oversight Council and NC3 Decision Forum, and track follow-on action items.
  • Coordinate, review, and manage staff packages, ensuring alignment with Air Force processes and stakeholder inputs.
  • Maintain integrated master schedules (IMS) for nuclear sustainment and modernization efforts, including critical path and dependency analysis.
  • Perform program and budget analysis across the PPBE cycle, supporting financial planning, justification, and execution monitoring.
  • Monitor Congressional activities and legislative trends, providing reports, summaries, and a repository of strategic statements to support DAF/A10 leadership.
  • Support interagency and joint coordination efforts, analyzing requirements, capabilities, and strategic guidance to inform Air Force positions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities across schedules, budgets, and programs, and recommend mitigation strategies to leadership.
  • Maintain organized records, archives, and knowledge management systems for continuity across programs and decision processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in national security, nuclear enterprise, defense policy, or related analytical fields within DoD or federal government
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex, multidisciplinary issues
  • Experience supporting senior leader engagements, governance forums, and decision-making processes
  • Familiarity with NC3, nuclear stockpile management, or strategic deterrence missions
  • Knowledge of the PPBE process and DoD financial management practices
  • Understanding of Congressional processes and legislative analysis
  • Experience developing executive-level briefings, reports, and policy documents
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including DoD, interagency, and Congressional entities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Active Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance
