Overview

We are seeking highly skilled First-Person View (FPV) Drone Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the Naval Special Warfare Community. As an instructor, you will play a key role in advancing force modernization by integrating FPV drone capability into tactical training pipelines. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, hands-on FPV build/repair experience, and the ability to instruct elite tactical operators in complex environments. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting Naval Special Warfare units.

Security Requirement:
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Government SECRET security clearance is required.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and instructing FPV curriculum.
  • Plan and facilitate FPV training event requirements to include proper facility, airspace and range access.
  • Facilitate weekly FPV currency flights and opportunities for operators to receive technical support.
  • Assist in facilitating courses of instruction.
  • Assist in FPV sUAS mission qualification requirements throughout Unit Level Training.
  • Assist in developing Counter UAS training requirements to include proper facility, airspace and range access.
  • Strategize with UAS team to determine needs and shortfalls within the UAS/FPV capability across the IDTC.
  • Collaborate with FPV Trainers to maintain continuity and establish minimum training standards
  • Ensure proper flight logging following the completion of UAS training and events.
  • Assist in guiding procurement and maintenance of material supplies to facilitate FPV training.
  • Assist NSW commands in ensuring FPV currency and qualification standards are met as defined by relevant SOCOM standards.

Position Requirements:
  • Be a FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen who possesses a current and valid U.S. passport and maintain a valid U.S. passport for the entire period of performance of the contract.
  • Possess valid driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain a UAS flight physical
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledgeable in building, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting tactical UAS platforms and associated payloads.
  • Proficient in conducting flight operations in contested electromagnetic environments, maritime conditions, and degraded visual conditions (low light/night).
  • Proficient in integrating tactical UAS employment into small unit maneuver operations, including target identification, grid relay, kinetic strikes, and counter-UAS operations.
  • Be capable of walking, climbing of stairs (as found on ships), standing, stooping, bending, reading, verbal communication. No debilitating medical conditions shall exist that would preclude operating in an austere environment or prevent regular work attendance.
  • Be able to lift objects of 50 lbs.
  • Be physically capable of instructing in desert, jungle, uneven-terrain and maritime environments while maintaining situational awareness.
  • Be able to provide documentation of physical readiness from a medical provider.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others, both verbally
  • Three years of experience flying, troubleshooting and fixing FPVs across multiple UAS platforms from a tactical perspective in contested environments.
  • Experience implementing, evaluating, and executing training curriculum for Foundational flight fundamentals and Advanced piloting skills for combat and contested environments.
  • Have familiarity with soldering Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and connecting electrical wires
  • Have experience working in cross-functional teams, preferably across components within DoD.
  • Have experience with vetting cutting-edge hardware and software technology within FPVs, sUAS, and cUAS systems.
  • Have hands-on experience with kinetic FPVs and associated employment techniques in recent modern conflicts.
  • Have proven background of electronics safety, fundamentals, and best practices.
  • Three years' experience with Betaflight and FPV simulator software.
  • Experience integrating variety of current and relevant operational payloads and communication pathways into UAS.
  • Experience in Counter UAS Operations, Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
  • Experience employing FPVs in real-world combat scenarios.
