About The Role
Peraton is seeking a highly experienced Senior Modeling & Simulation/Predictive Analytics Specialist to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced computational models that drive strategic analysis, forecasting, and mission-critical decision-making in support of the CBP Analytics and Intelligence Support Program.
This role requires an expert who can translate complex operational systems into scalable, defensible simulation frameworks. The ideal candidate combines deep quantitative expertise, strong systems thinking, and disciplined software engineering practices to deliver reproducible, high-impact analytic solutions within a secure, high-assurance federal environment.

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

About The Role
Peraton is seeking a highly experienced Senior Modeling & Simulation/Predictive Analytics Specialist to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced computational models that drive strategic analysis, forecasting, and mission-critical decision-making in support of the CBP Analytics and Intelligence Support Program.
This role requires an expert who can translate complex operational systems into scalable, defensible simulation frameworks. The ideal candidate combines deep quantitative expertise, strong systems thinking, and disciplined software engineering practices to deliver reproducible, high-impact analytic solutions within a secure, high-assurance federal environment.
Support will be provided across multiple mission environments:
- Ashburn, VA
- Sterling, VA
- Washington, D.C.
- Design and implement advanced modeling and simulation solutions (agent-based, discrete-event, system dynamics, stochastic, and network/graph models) aligned to mission needs.
- Develop and refine targeting rule sets and machine learning models using CBP transactional, historical, and classified data to support threat assessment obejctives.
- Perform data profiling, SQL-based extraction, and feature engineering in preparation for model development.
- Develop digital twins and simulation frameworks using real-world and historical data.
- Plan and execute experiments (e.g., DOE, sensitivity analysis) to support forecasting and decision-making.
- Lead verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification (VV&UQ) efforts to ensure model credibility.
- Build scalable, high-performance simulation tools using Python, C++, or similar technologies.
- Integrate and manage data from multiple sources, ensuring quality, traceability, and reproducibility.
- Translate complex model outputs into clear insights, visualizations, and decision-support products.
- Deploy and maintain models in cloud and containerized environments; support CI/CD workflows.
- Ensure compliance with security, governance, and documentation standards in a classified environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Operate independently with strong ownership of modeling efforts and deliverables.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; or 12 years with HS diploma/equivalent in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of experience in modeling & simulation or quantitative analytics
- Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods (classification, clustering, anomaly detection)
- Expertise with modeling paradigms (e.g., agent-based, discrete-event, system dynamics, stochastic)
- Strong proficiency in Python and modeling/simulation frameworks
- Deep understanding of VV&UQ, experimental design, calibration, and uncertainty analysis
- Demonstrated software engineering best practices (modular design, testing, version control, performance optimization)
- Proven ability to work independently in complex, mission-driven environments
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain CBP BI suitability
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field
- Experience with cloud/HPC scaling, distributed computing (Ray, Dask, Spark), or GPU acceleration
- Familiarity with graph analytics (NetworkX, Neo4j), GIS/geospatial modeling, or streaming data platforms (Kafka)
- Knowledge of Bayesian statistics, probabilistic programming (PyMC, Stan), or advanced optimization methods
- Experience with tools such as AnyLogic, Arena, Simul8, ns-3, or OMNeT++
- Prior experience supporting federal, intelligence, or other high-assurance environments
- Relevant certifications in cloud, modeling, or analytics platforms
