Work you'll do
The Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (DMHA) Research Analyst supports the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DM) within the Applied Research and Information Sharing (ARIS) Branch by developing and delivering research and written products on disaster management and humanitarian assistance. The role coordinates, implements, and balances multiple research studies and products, producing operationally relevant outputs that describe disaster management capabilities and vulnerabilities globally with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region. The objective is to strengthen a comprehensive disaster management knowledge base by capturing best practices and lessons learned that advance coordination in disaster response and humanitarian assistance missions.
The position also produces statistical research reports and studies using DMHA data, applying structured research methodologies to generate practical, decision-relevant findings for civil-military audiences.

Key Responsibilities
As a Project Delivery Specialist you will:
- Conduct the full range of professional research activities across multiple research projects, including fact-finding, analysis, and development of study rationales and methodologies.
- Define appropriate research goals and objectives; scope studies to address research gaps within the civil-military community, varying depth and approach based on problem requirements.
- Conduct operational and academic applied research using structured/scientific approaches to collect, analyze, and interpret data using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method methodologies.
- Coordinate and integrate input from individuals, students, universities, and other organizations/agencies to support research development and execution.
- Produce statistical research reports and studies utilizing DMHA datasets.
- Provide guidance to students and researchers on methodology design and program requirements; edit/revise academic papers to translate findings into practical DMHA recommendations.
- Edit research papers for content, clarity, and grammar to ensure publication-quality outputs.

Qualifications
Required:
- Masters degree
- Active Secret Clearance
- 5+ years of professional experience
- 5+ years of experience analyzing and synthesizing information, including writing and editing various research products.
- 2+ years of experience research design experience and completion of research project reports.
- 2+ years of experience experience developing academic and operational research proposals and applying research methodologies (quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
- Strong ability to write DMHA-related content clearly and concisely in Standard U.S. English; high-level synthesis skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; experience with public speaking, presenting, and facilitating groups.
- Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks, manage shifting timelines, and meet deadlines with strong time management and efficiency.
- Strong Microsoft Word skills, including formatting, editing, and publishing technical reports, planning documents, and/or fact sheets.
- Ability to take direction while working independently with high autonomy; collaborative approach and respect for diverse perspectives.
