Volt is immediately hiring for Senior System Safety Engineer –in Woburn, MA.
As a Senior System Safety Engineer, you will:
• Develop and implement MIL STD 882E–compliant system safety programs.
• Perform system safety analyses, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and verification activities.
• Review engineering drawings, schematics, and requirements to assess safety compliance and fault tolerance.
• Create clear, testable safety requirements, and evaluate existing requirements for completeness.
• Prepare System Safety Reports, Safety Assessment documentation, and program briefs for customer approval.
• Support system test, operational procedures, and administrative safety controls.
• Interface with internal teams, customers, subcontractors, and government representatives.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Monitor technical execution and ensure alignment with system safety objectives.
This is 12 months Full- time- contract with possible hire opportunity.
Clearance: Active Secret
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 12+ years of relevant experience (Advanced degrees may reduce required experience).
• Background in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software, Electrical, or Firmware Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (MIL STD 882, DO 178).
• Knowledge of system and software safety within Agile development environments.
• Familiarity with Human Systems Integration and MIL STD 1472.
• Experience with EVMS, proposal development, and engineering change processes.
Pay Range: $85.00 - $ 98.00 per hour.
