Job Overview
We are looking for a Material Planner 2 who will be responsible for ensuring the availability of materials to support the master schedule while managing inventories, cost, and supplier performance. The material planner's responsibilities include utilization of ERP/MRP tools to translate demand into supply plans and coordinates with purchasing, production, and logistics. A successful Material Planner should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production material flow.

The material planner's responsibilities include utilization of ERP/MRP tools to translate demand into supply plans and coordinates with purchasing, production, and logistics. A successful Material Planner should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production material flow.
Essential Functions
- Review forecasts, sales orders, and production schedules to determine material requirements and planning parameters.
- Run and analyze MRP, convert planned orders to purchase requisitions, and collaborate with buyers to execute purchase orders.
- Monitor and expedite material demand to support production priorities and master production schedule commitments.
- Maintain accurate material master data and bills of material fields related to planning, lead times, and lot sizes in the ERP system (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Epicor, Oracle).
- Track inventory levels, coverage, and turns; identify and mitigate shortages, excess, and obsolete stock.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, quality, and logistics on schedule changes, engineering changes, and constraint management.
- Liaise with suppliers on delivery dates, reschedules, and recovery plans; escalate and allocate constrained supply as needed.
- Prepare and maintain reports and KPIs for material availability, supplier on-time delivery, and inventory performance.
- Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement, including standardization, lead-time reduction, and consumption-based or pull planning initiatives.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, BOMs, routings, and basic production planning concepts (MRP, safety stock, lot sizing, lead time).
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and strong skills in Excel and data analysis.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with buyers, planners, engineering, production, and suppliers.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities; experience with KPIs and continuous improvement or Lean/Six Sigma is a plus.
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Supply Chain certifications (APICS, CPIM) preferred.
