Installation Technician I

JOB DESCRIPTION: This family is responsible for installation, modification and repair of equipment and systems. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee.) SCOPE: Receives some instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Uses professional concepts to solve a variety of problem. Performs installation support activities for equipment and systems products. Using detailed company guidelines, performs on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair and calibration of the company's products. Assists higher level technicians with on-site installations, check-out and emergency repairs. Refers more complex problems to higher level personnel. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. IMPACT: Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules. LIAISON: Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information. FREEDOM TO ACT: Normally receives some instruction on routine work, general instruction on new assignments. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Having some knowledge and experience, able to handle usual occurring job events. Choice of action requires more than common sense in that some training and experience is needed before knowing what to do under special circumstances. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school education or equivalent and 1-3 years of related experience. Some technical education desired.
