This position is based near Columbia, Maryland, with alternative duty locations in San Diego, California, Englewood, Colorado, or Huntsville, Alabama. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Training Developer to join a high-impact, multi-agency program serving the United States Space Force (USSF) / Space Systems Command (SSC), the United States Air Force (USAF), and other critical mission stakeholders. The selected individual will play key role in enhancing, testing, and deploying a large-scale Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system to an existing infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in public key infrastructure (PKI) and key management, excels at complex problem solving, and has a strong record of delivering results as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced Agile Development environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance the resilience and cybersecurity of mission-critical communications that protect our nation.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, and implement blended-learning solutions (classroom, CBT/WBT, and other instructional technologies) that prepare students to execute their mission.
  • Design, develop, and deliver certifiable training programs for adult learners on complex, multi-node software/server systems in a classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with instructors, ISDs/training developers, technical writers, web managers, and other team members to produce and maintain high‑quality training products.
  • Instruct and support adult learners while managing classroom workstations and maintaining a ready, operational training environment.
  • Partner with subject-matter experts to define instructional requirements, analyze system functionality and components, adapt engineering documentation, and implement effective training solutions.
  • Develop, update, and maintain instructional content, including Written Courses of Instruction (WCI), Lesson Plans, CBT modules, and human–machine interface training materials.
  • Evaluate and refine instructional programs, course content, and methodologies; analyze learning objectives against program requirements and support data collection for multi-level evaluation and assessment.
  • Create job aids and other performance support tools for end users, subject matter experts, and instructors who may be new to the targeted technology.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum Design or a related field, and at least 12 years of experience in a training-related field. Additional experience may be substituted for a Degree.
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience in platform delivery design and development for technology-based systems.
  • Must have at least 3 years of recent (within the last 10 years) in-classroom training experience delivering hands-on technical instruction.
  • Must have extensive experience developing, using, and maintaining training products (e.g., CBT/WBT, web-based content, course materials).
  • Must have experience working directly with technical staff (e.g., system engineers, software developers, system administrators, etc.).
  • Must have a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Must have excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to independently plan and prioritize daily tasks, ongoing projects, and recurring processes.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.


Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with or in military Satellite Communications (SATCOM) organizations such as United States Air Force (USAF), United States Space Force (USSF), or another Agency.
  • Experience working with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)/ key management programs and technologies.
  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum Design, Human Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing job aids for users and/or instructors on technologies that are new to them is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience developing technical publications such as requirements specifications, user manuals, technical manuals, training manuals, and other documents for end users.
  • Experience using graphics applications and scripting languages including Photoshop, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • System administration experience troubleshooting workstations and networks.
  • Familiarity with complex network systems, to include firewalls, Load Balancers, NIDS, NAT, PAT, VPC and complex ACLs on multiple hardware architectures including Cisco Nexus and Cisco Catalyst lines.
  • Proficiency with Windows Server (2008/2012/2016, including Server Core) and Linux system administration
