Job Description

Product Owner - GCCS-J
Mid-Senior Level | Newport News, VA | $130,000 - $155,000 | Active Secret Clearance Required

Drive the development of the DoD's Joint Command and Control system-owning product vision, roadmap, and delivery of mission-critical capabilities that provide a real-time, fused battlespace picture to warfighters.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
  • Define, communicate, and maintain product vision, roadmap, and backlog aligned to GCCS-J mission objectives.
  • Align backlog priorities with strategic direction set by Chief Engineers and system architects.
  • Capture, refine, and prioritize user stories in collaboration with customers and stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular backlog grooming sessions to ensure readiness and alignment with Definition of Ready.
  • Adjust backlog priorities each Sprint to support evolving mission and program needs.
  • Accept or reject completed work at the end of each Sprint while enforcing Definition of Done and quality standards.
  • Participate in Sprint Reviews, Process Reviews, Design Reviews, and coordination meetings with program stakeholders.
  • Provide clear acceptance criteria and ensure delivered capabilities meet mission and quality expectations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between development teams, program management, and government customers.
  • Facilitate product and stakeholder meetings while providing status updates and supporting program communication.
  • Collaborate with program management to support delivery schedules, milestone planning, and development progress tracking.
  • Provide input into budget estimates and resource planning for development activities.
  • Act as the technical authority for assigned product areas, guiding teams and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Engage end users to understand operational needs and validate delivered solutions.
  • Incorporate user-centered design principles throughout product development and capability delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum product development including enterprise-level backlog ownership
  • Strong understanding of product development architecture, user-centered design, and systems thinking
  • Working knowledge of system architecture and data integration principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including executive-level briefings
  • Ability to work effectively with large, cross-functional teams including engineers, users, program management, and government stakeholders
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active DoD Secret security clearance required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification with demonstrated team leadership experience
  • Experience supporting GCCS-J, Joint Command and Control (C2) systems, or enterprise Common Operating Picture (COP) platforms
  • Experience integrating intelligence and imagery data within operational systems
  • Knowledge of data flows, sensor integration, and system architecture principles
  • Experience operating within DISA or Combatant Command environments
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
