Job Description

Duties
Help
  • Interview witnesses to determine cause of accidents.
  • Take charge of accident scenes upon arrival, directing all other uniformed patrols as they arrive on the scene.
  • Investigate traffic accidents including collecting and securing evidence and the scene.
  • Enforce the laws of the Unites States. Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and regulations to protect life and property.
  • Analyze and interpret military laws, regulations, and standards as it relates to the prevention of criminal activities in military installations.
  • Apprehend, arrest, or detain persons or violators.
  • Review facts of incidents to determine if criminal acts or statute violations were involved.
  • Collect, segregate or develop facts pertaining to open investigations and reconstructions that can lead to prosecution.
  • Respond to incidents to determine if a violation of the uniform code of Military Justice occurred.
  • Operate motor vehicles involving high speed maneuvering.
  • Operate patrol vehicle in emergency situations.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements to maintain assigned weapons and gear.
  • Operate a firearm in the performance of duty in accordance with proper procedures.

  • Requires working irregular hours and weekend to include being on call.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Successfully graduated from a DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course or complete within one year of hire date.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and maintain a level of fitness to physically perform the position.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 and successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the federal service which include 1) Police law enforcement procedures and traffic investigation; 2) Police interrogation of suspects, and the apprehension of suspects committing acts of violence and protecting evidence collected from crime scene; and 3) Provide knowledge of laws and regulations with police law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques, while maintaining the order of protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
