Job Description

Duties

  • You will perform all functions necessary to manage and execute a comprehensive safety program in direct support of HRT.
  • You will address issues involved with high-risk training, hazardous training evolutions, and industrial functions related to operations of Navy Special Operations.
  • You will plan, schedule, and conduct on-site HRT risk management assessment and technical assistance visits.
  • You will develop instructions and procedures to establish technical and administrative HRT safety program requirements.
  • You will review findings during external inspections, evaluations, and surveys; initiates program improvements based on findings.
  • You will conduct formal inspections of non-NSWG-1 owned HRT platforms and indoor/outdoor tactical range complexes to determine compliance with Navy and USSOCOM standards.
  • You will serve as the command's Subject Matter Expert (SME) on high-risk safety, advising leadership and providing guidance to safety personnel stationed within NSWG-1.
  • You will provide subject matter advice during mishap investigations, prepare formal reports, track corrective actions, and compile statistical data.
  • You will represent the command at Joint and service-level conferences and meetings to develop and standardize safety policies and procedures.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying advanced risk management principles and demonstrating knowledge of Naval Special Warfare (NSW) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) tactics, techniques and procedures; supporting and partaking in high-risk training evolutions (e.g., military free-fall, diving, demolitions and tactical ground mobility); and utilizing DoD, Navy, and USSOCOM safety regulations to analyze problems, develop policies and provide safety recommendations in dynamic environments.
