Job Description

Duties
Help
  • Direct, manage and supervise all law enforcement desk operations on an assigned shift.
  • Respond to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Review all law enforcement reports and supporting documentation to include substantiating charges for correctness, completeness, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive.
  • Review journals, blotters, critical information reports, serious incident reports and other correspondence as necessary and disseminate them as required by standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper receipt, processing and safekeeping of evidence in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain communications with mobile patrol units, access control points, to pass direction and information to Police Officers.
  • Develop employee performance standards.

  • Obtain and maintain a T3 Secret Security Clearance.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Pre-employment and recurring drug testing are required.
  • Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position is for a night shift supervisor. Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • These include, but not limited to: Telecommunicator 1, Telecommunicator 2, Dispatch training, Weapons qualifications, First aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date, or next available, unless incumbent has an approved waiver/exemption from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) conducting full range of complex law enforcement such as interviewing witnesses and interrogating suspects; 2) providing training and guidance on law enforcement regulations and procedures; AND 3) leading or supervising employees in the area of security or law enforcement.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
