Job Description
Valiant Harbor International is seeking a Technical Director for a full time opportunity supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC/HNJ). This position operates at the intersection of software development, data analytics, and project execution within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position requires a technical professional with a software engineering background focused on data analytics. The position will blend traditional coding practices with analytical techniques to drive project insight, automate workflows, and manage data infrastructure to merge software development with data interpretation. This position will require someone with an understanding of operational needs and Security Classification Guides (SCGs). This position is well suited for someone who understands software development and deployment in the DoD ecosystem.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support project leadership in writing code and analyzing data to influence business decisions, product development, and strategic direction.
- Provide support to bridge the gap between engineering and data science to allow the creation of robust, scalable data tools and analyses.
- Apply data analytics tools across a varying number of SCGs to generate an appropriate classification of source materials.
- Apply software engineering principles to data, such as data versioning, unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure data quality.
- Leverage programming languages, tools, and/or enterprise level platforms to manage, manipulate, and query data stored in relational databases.
- Utilize data visualization tools and platforms to transform complex, large-scale data into accessible, visual formats (highlighting trends, patterns, and outliers) to enable faster decision-making and improve communication across teams.
- Use scripts to automate data cleaning, transformation, and reporting in support of project objectives.
Recommend appropriate classification levels to protect program technical information, and ensure all documentation is properly marked and distributed in accordance with the appropriate Security Classification Guide(s).
Job Requirements:
- Must have a current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility prior to selection.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a STEM field.
- 10-15 years of applicable professional experience in SW engineering, data analysis, and technical program execution.
- Experience in creation, review or use of Security Classification Guides for classification of reference material.
- Experience across multiple operating systems (UNIX, LINUX, etc.) and classes of software languages and development toolsets (Java, XML, etc.), including memory safe languages, frontend and backend languages, interpreted and scripting languages, markup languages, and backend databases.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing data analytical tools/platform (e.g., Power BI, Python, R, SQL, Tableau).
- Knowledge in the development, review, and documentation of classification management business processes ensuring compliance with the DoD and DNI regulations.
Experience in DoD environments and familiarity working in classified settings.
