Be the Expert in GIS and IT Support!
As a GIS Systems Administrator supporting the United States Geological Survey (USGS), you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping critical geospatial systems running smoothly and reliably. At the intersection of IT and GIS, you’ll support ArcGIS applications while managing the Windows environments they depend on.
You’ll contribute as a valued member of the team by setting up systems thoughtfully, anticipating and resolving issues before they impact users, and keeping everything secure, stable, and ready for use. From configuring laptops and virtual machines to supporting ArcGIS Enterprise components, your work will directly impact how effectively teams can access and use geospatial data.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, collaborating across teams, and taking ownership of system performance and GIS application support.
Salary: $58,000 - $68,000
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, GIS, or a related discipline
◦ Or at least 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
• Hands-on experience building, configuring, and supporting Windows laptops and virtual machines
• Ability to troubleshoot Windows OS, network connectivity, and GIS application issues
• Familiarity with configuration management and applying security updates
• Proficiency in Python for streamlining system administration tasks and supporting ArcGIS tools
• Solid problem-solving skills and adaptability, including supporting users on-site and remotely to ensure continuity of GIS services
