Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR SUPERVISOR to include the ability to lead or supervise. Abilities include (1) planning work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates; (2) explaining work requirements, methods, and procedures; (3) measuring and introducing chemicals into the water system; (4) utilize SCADA system to identify trends and optimize operations; and (5) conducting water quality test to verify water quality is kept within established limits. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Help
- Direct and coordinate daily plant operations to ensure continuous production of safe drinking water.
- Serve as a resource for complex tasks, troubleshooting and implementing improvements in operational processes.
- Provide advice, technical guidance and instruction to personnel in the areas of water treatment, pumping distribution and residuals processing.
- Monitor plant performance, treatment processes, and system alarms to ensure operational standards are met.
- Initiate the review and improvement of work methods organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary ones and achieve optimum content in those remaining.
- Ensure operators comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Safe Drinking Water Act requirements.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License
- Incumbent required to use and maintain prescribed safety/protective clothing and equipment.
- Incumbent required to maintain certification for both HAZWOPER operations and to confined space entry.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
- Incumbent required to work scheduled, unscheduled and emergency overtime.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
- Incumbent may serve as a "competent person" as per EM 385-1-1
- This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization.
- This position is subject to pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform. Protective clothing and gear are required when working around chemicals.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance.
- A one-year supervisory probation period may be required.
- Incumbent is required to possess and maintain a Water Treatment Plant Operator Class IV Certification or Professional Operator for Water Treatment Class IV Certification.
