We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Software Asset Management (SAM) Support professional to assist the United States Department of Veterans Affairs , Office of Information and Technology's (OIT) Product Owner team with data research, analysis, and operational support for ServiceNow SAM Remediation . This role supports informed decision-making through accurate software asset data, identification of consolidation opportunities, research into VA-owned software alternatives , and ad hoc Product Owner support . The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, familiarity with enterprise software licensing, and the ability to communicate actionable insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
Location: Remote within the US supporting EST working hours.

Responsibilities
Research and Data Collection for Product Owner Team
Purchasing enterprise software assets across the organization requires accurate and timely data. Contract personnel will:
- Support the onboarding of new software titles into ServiceNow SAM Pro, including requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, and documentation of business and technical needs
- Collect and analyze data on software title usage, versioning, contract end dates, and license information.
- Support consolidation efforts by identifying redundant or overlapping software titles.
- Provide a summary overview and recommendation to the Integration team regarding whether a title is a good candidate for contract consolidation.
- Provide actionable insights to the Product Owner team for informed decision-making and compliance reporting.
- Stakeholder communication: serve as liaison between product owners, developers and end-user customers .
- Documentation and reporting: produce written summaries, findings reports , and recommendation artifacts for leadership review .
- Experience supporting software onboarding or intake processes within an ITSM or ITAM platform, including requirements gathering and technical documentation .
- Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for development and configuration teams .
Research and Recommendations for VA-Owned Software Alternatives
To optimize costs and reduce reliance on low-volume commercial software, contract personnel will:
- Research VA-owned software solutions that can replace underutilized third-party applications.
- Provide recommendations based on functionality, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, management, information systems, engineering, or related field ( 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
- 8 + years of experience in ServiceNow software asset management, IT acuquisition / procurement , or related functions.
- Experience with ServiceNow SAM modules.
- Familiarity with enterprise software licensing models, contract management, and asset lifecycle processes.
- Knowledge of software consolidation strategies and vendor management best practices.
- Experience working with ServiceNow or similar ITSM/ITAM platforms.
- Strong analytical and data management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize findings and present recommendations clearly.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
- Experience working in federal or compliance-driven environments strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with VA systems, VA-owned software, or federal IT acuquisition / procurement processes.
- Experience with tools such as Flexera, Snow Software, or similar software asset management solutions.
- IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent certification.
- ITIL Foundation certification

- Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance
