HX5 is currently seeking a Junior Release Train Engineer/Business Ops Assistant who will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Junior Release Train Engineer (80%):
  • Data Visualization & Dashboards:
    • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to include a project planning roadmap dashboard showing project schedules and progress, resource allocation, project backlog, and project prioritization.
    • Analyze and display data sets for a wide audience.
  • Tool Optimization:
    • Work with the Product Owners and technical teams to ensure accurate reflection of the backlog and current goals in the project management tools.
    • Utilize project planning tools including Microsoft Teams, Planner, Project, Jira, Gitlab, and other MDA-approved tools.
    • Coordinate software and hardware upgrades with appropriate departments. Develop and maintain documentation for system procedures.
    • Work closely with IT resources during upgrades and issue resolutions.
    • Troubleshoot application, process and technical issues.
    • Identify required resources and coordinate all efforts until issue is resolved.
    • Complete documentation as needed.
  • Team & RTE Support:
    • Support and assist the Release Train Engineer (RTE) with processes and systems necessary for Backlog administration, Program Increment Planning and Reviews, and Standups.
  • Agile & Scrum Facilitation:
    • Assist in facilitating Scrum activities, including Sprint Planning and Sprint Reviews.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Ensure transparent communication between the development team, product owners, and other stakeholders.
    • Develop tracking and data visualization tools to track team progress and performance metrics.
    • Deliver reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with internal technical teams and external customers.


Business Operations Assistant (20%):
  • Acting as an alternate to the Business Operations manager
  • Onboard and offboard personnel following processes established by the organization.
  • Use personnel systems, including account creation and seating logistics.
  • Assist with morale building efforts, including supply replenishment and event organization.


The Successful Candidate will:
  • Have strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Be able to present complex information clearly.
  • Be able to create and maintain project documentation, including project plans and status reports
  • Have strong attention to detail.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously


Salary: This position is expected to pay $80,000 - $100,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Basic Requirements:

Must have a combination of the following education and experience:
  • Must have 6, or more, months of data visualization, project coordination or related experience.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, business, management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must have experience in one or more of the following applications and tools: Relational Databases (e.g. MS Office, MS Access, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.


Desired Requirements:
  • Have experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Gitlab, JIRA, or Asana.
  • Have experience with Operating Systems: Windows, UNIX. Working knowledge of graphic design software and tools such as Adobe CS4/5, 3DStudio Max, Maya, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flex, Dreamweaver, HTML, DHTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and equivalents.
  • Knowledge of Programming Languages (e.g. HTML5, Java, .NET, J2EE, CSS, XML).
  • Be proficient in data analysis tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, or Tableau.
  • Be familiar with Agile methodologies and frameworks.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

Other Position Requirements:
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance by date of hire.
  • Must be able to travel, including air travel.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License.
