We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Payroll, Cost & Billing Accountant to support financial operations within a government contracting environment. This role is responsible for payroll processing, labor distribution, project cost tracking, and contract billing while ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and DCAA requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in government contract accounting, payroll administration, and project financial management and will work closely with HR, project managers, and finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and contract compliance.

Process and oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate wages, deductions, benefits, and tax reporting.
Manage labor distribution and timekeeping compliance to ensure proper charging of labor to contracts.
Track and monitor project and contract costs, including labor, indirect costs, and other direct expenses.
Prepare and review government contract invoices for cost-plus, time-and-materials, and fixed-price contracts.
Verify labor hours and expenses prior to invoicing to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Monitor contract funding levels, burn rates, and cost ceilings.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to payroll, labor distribution, and project costs.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Maintain documentation supporting payroll, project costs, and billings for audit readiness.
Assist with DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and compliance reviews.
Collaborate with HR and program managers to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
10+ years of accounting experience, preferably within government contracting.
Experience with payroll processing, labor distribution, and project accounting.
Knowledge of FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance requirements.
Experience preparing contract billings (cost-plus, T&M, or fixed price).
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting DCAA audits and incurred cost submissions.
