Position Title: Data Engineer
Status: Permanent/Full-Time
Location: North Charleston, S.C.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with data migration to modern enterprise data analytics platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in relational databases, data pipeline development, and experience designing and coding data structures for implementation with dashboards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines to migrate data from relational database to the data analytics platform.
• Develop and optimize data models and schemas to build and manage data flows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies throughout the migration process.
• Automate data migration processes and optimize ETL pipelines for performance and efficiency.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for ETL processes, data pipelines, data models, and migration procedures.
• Assist in the technical process from ideation to delivery: Research, experiment, and utilize leading data methodologies to build pipelines and scalable analytic tools using leading technologies.
• Regularly conduct peer code reviews to ensure code quality provides expert documentation and provides operating guidance for users of all levels.
• Execute data operations essential for analysis, including tasks such as data cleansing, data integration, and data transformation.
• Monitoring performance and reliability of data systems, identifying and resolving issues while proactively optimizing logic and model performance by code tuning, streamlining and resource allocation.

Requirements/Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems)
Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area. Individual shall have experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and notable experience with applying modern software development methodologies in a professional or academic setting.
Specific Experience:
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Qlik.
• Previous experience working with DoD data and systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with SQL Server migration tools
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
Required Certifications and Clearance:
• Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer
• Security + or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
• SECRET clearance
