What does this role look like?

➥ Leading a cross-functional technical Mission Success / Mission Assurance team for the SMD Line-of-Business (LOB).

➥ This role includes shaping program requirements across Mission Assurance and Mission Success domains, developing and leading a skilled technical organization, and effectively contributing as an LM Space executive.

➥ The Director will notably lead Mission Success independent engagement across SMD LOB programs, as well as shaping program quality requirements and ensuring adherence to company and contractual requirements.

➥ The Director will also address and resolve SMD portfolio technical Mission Success and Mission Assurance risks and issues in collaboration with Engineering & Technology and other functional organizations.

➥ The Director also ensures technical, anomaly and lessons learned data sharing within the LOB, across the LM Enterprise, and influences customer and industry initiatives regarding Mission Assurance at cross-industry fora.

➥ The responsibilities require somebody with diverse and refined executive leadership skills who can independently measure and assess program technical performance to identify risks, systemic issues and areas for improvement, and lead a technical team that effectively drives effective and rigorous root cause and corrective / preventive action through program Corrective Action Boards (CABs) to enable Mission Success.
Basic Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

• BS in engineering or related technical discipline.
• Diverse and extensive leadership experience in the National Security Space domain with a strong industry and government network and demonstrated experience to address and solve complex problems collaboratively at a national level.
• Demonstrated experience in staffing, talent development and mentoring to effectively to address problematic and high-risk areas.
• Must have a proven ability to build and manage large teams that are organizationally and geographically dispersed.
• Demonstrated experience and extensive expertise with Mission Success and Mission Assurance domains that include missile, space vehicle and ground system functions.
• Technical and leadership experience with missile and spacecraft development, design, production, test, and operations and strong competencies across missile and spacecraft subsystems.
• Program management experience and demonstrated success balancing cost, schedule and technical considerations.
• You will need to be a US Citizen, and currently possess and be able to maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance with SCI access, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• Understanding our missions and how Mission Assurance affects their success.
• Experience investigating and troubleshooting piece part, component, subsystem and system-level failures.
• Experience building effective teams of subject matter experts to solve complex problems.
• Extensive experience identifying and mitigating technical risks.
• Experience with both risk adverse and risk tolerant programs.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines to resolve technical and process issues.
• Experience effectively communicating and promoting potentially unpopular but necessary technical positions.
• Demonstrated experience with relationship building and interpersonal acumen to effectively influence change and show thought leadership across multiple organizations.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex development or design issues and experience in the failure resolution/remediation.
• Demonstrated exemplary verbal and written communication skills at an executive level.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $180,000 - $309,120. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
