Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance required

Certification Requirements: NICET Level II or III highly preferred.

Responsibilities

The Fire Alarm Technician provides high quality customer support through on-site service, complex troubleshooting, programming, installation, and maintenance services of various FA Systems under little to no supervision
  • Develop schedules for all required Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems in accordance with UFC and NFPA requirements.
  • Conduct ITM activities including battery replacement, device testing, and system verification.
  • Inspect water - based sprinkler systems.
  • Perform functional testing of initiating devices, notification appliances, and all system components.
  • Prepare accurate and timely inspection reports, identifying existing and potential deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and replace components in fire alarm and intrusion detection systems.
  • Perform system software programming, reprogramming, and adjustments as required.
  • Investigate trouble alarms and system malfunctions to determine root causes and corrective measures.
  • Develop upgrade plans for existing systems to achieve compliance with current UFC/NFPA codes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and building plans.
  • Determine materials and parts needed for repairs and coordinate procurement.
  • Respond to service calls, perform diagnostics, and bring systems into regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of all system work performed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with High School Diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of NFPA, UFC, NEC, Fire Alarm System Theory, OSHA Requirements, and Industry Standards for Fire Alarm systems installation.

Abilities:
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
