Job Responsibilities

Trace Systems is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support mission-critical operations at MacDill AFB, FL. This position supports the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) program within the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). The JCSE provides en-route, early-entry, and scalable Command, Control, Communications, and Computer (C4) support to Regional Combatant Commands, Special Operations Command, and other government agencies worldwide. In this role, the ISSO will be responsible for ensuring system security compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and JCSE requirements. The selected candidate will support cybersecurity assessments, maintain accreditation packages, and provide hands-on support to ensure compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and applicable security standards.
Responsible for performing the follwoing duties:
  • Develop and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) for all identified security findings across enterprise infrastructure, including data centers, SATCOM gateways, and deployed systems.
  • Create, staff, and maintain required cybersecurity documentation in accordance with DoDI 8510, including Cybersecurity Strategy (CS) and Program Protection Plan (PPP).
  • Conduct recurring meetings to track RMF activities, accreditation status, and remediation efforts.
  • Maintain documentation identifying applicable STIGs, security controls, and compliance requirements for all enterprise components.
  • Perform vulnerability and compliance scans using approved tools such as SCAP and ACAS, ensuring use of current security definitions.
  • Track and report compliance with cybersecurity directives, including STIG implementation, patch management, and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) requirements.
  • Support RMF processes in accordance with CNSSI 1253 and NIST SP 800-53, including updates to authorization packages and A&A activities.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining system security policies and procedures, including network security, account management, and system usage.
  • Provide technical guidance to cybersecurity personnel and recommend improvements to strengthen defense-in-depth strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve security issues, support accreditation activities, and process waiver requests.
  • Provide system administration support across Linux, Windows, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions in classified and unclassified environments (SIPR/NIPR).
  • Maintain system configuration documentation, including network diagrams, points of contact, and technical baselines.
  • Ensure proper protection of data in transit in accordance with DoD policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Due to the nature of the work and US Government requirements, US Citizenship is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience with CyberSecurity
  • Must possess a DoD-8570 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent) at the time of start.

Desired Qualification

  • Experience supporting DoD or joint communications environments.
  • Familiarity with SATCOM and deployed communications systems.
  • Experience managing RMF packages and ATO processes.
  • Knowledge of enterprise vulnerability management tools and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of defense-in-depth cybersecurity principles.

  • High School/GED
