Job Description
SOSi is seeking a Senior Events Manager for its operational headquarters in Reston, Virginia. The Senior Events Manager will elevate SOSi's brand visibility, thought leadership, and executive presence through strategic external and internal events. This role leads our participation in industry associations, trade shows, and high-impact conferences, ensuring measurable business outcomes and maximizing brand engagement. The Senior Events Manager is also responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of internal employee events that strengthen company culture and employee engagement.

Job Description
SOSi is seeking a Senior Events Manager for its operational headquarters in Reston, Virginia. The Senior Events Manager will elevate SOSi's brand visibility, thought leadership, and executive presence through strategic external and internal events. This role leads our participation in industry associations, trade shows, and high-impact conferences, ensuring measurable business outcomes and maximizing brand engagement. The Senior Events Manager is also responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of internal employee events that strengthen company culture and employee engagement.
Strategic Event Leadership
- Develop and drive a comprehensive annual events strategy that advances brand awareness, thought leadership, executive visibility, and business objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders (Business Development, Business Units, and Executive Leadership) to align event strategies with organizational goals and key initiatives.
- Serve as the strategic lead on event programming, budgeting, staffing, vendor oversight, and post-event evaluation.
Industry Associations & Sponsorships
- Act as the primary point of contact for all industry association memberships.
- Identify opportunities to maximize association benefits, including committee engagement, leadership roles, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Build and nurture long-term partnerships with association leadership and external stakeholders.
Trade Shows, Conferences & External Events
- Lead planning and execution of SOSi's participation in key industry events and conferences.
- Identify events that drive visibility, demand generation, and executive engagement.
- Coordinate logistics, booth design, messaging, promotional assets, sponsorship opportunities, and staffing.
- Identify, prepare, and coach SOSi executives and spokespeople to represent the company effectively.
Internal Events & Experience
- Lead planning and execution of internal events (e.g., employee summits, holiday celebrations, leadership forums) that support employee engagement and culture.
- Coordinate cross-organization logistics, messaging, and execution standards.
Vendor & Budget Management
- Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with event vendors, venues, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, budget constraints, and quality expectations.
Measurement, Analytics & Reporting
- Define and track performance metrics for events (attendance, engagement, ROI, pipeline impact).
- Produce post-event reports with insights and recommendations to improve future effectiveness.
- Use analytics and participant feedback to optimize event strategy and execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; OR equivalent professional experience.
- Seven + yearsof progressive event marketing and management experience within B2B and/or government contracting environments, with demonstrated success delivering high-impact external and internal events.
- Proven ability to develop strategic event plans that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Strong project management skills with meticulous attention to detail and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, audience-focused messaging.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments and senior leaders.
- Experience with Cvent or similar CRM/event automation platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing association memberships and leveraging association platforms for thought leadership.
- Experience with analytics tools and event ROI measurement frameworks.
Work Environment
- Standard office environment with a hybrid schedule (two days onsite, three days optional remote).
- May require non‑traditional work hours, including evenings or weekends, as business needs dictate.
- Occasional travel may be required.
