Responsibilities for this Position
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as principal technical authority and strategic leader for SLCM-N software architecture and development
- Define and drive technical vision, architectural standards, and long-term roadmaps for complex weapon system software
- Lead development and maintenance of software for payload control systems, including networking protocols and socket programming
- Design and develop new functionality and apply emerging technologies to existing systems capabilities
- Maintain and modernize existing software, integrating new components into existing subsystems and refactoring legacy implementations
- Lead cross-functional teams in designing and integrating software solutions across system boundaries
- Drive resolution of highly complex software and networking issues to ensure optimal system performance
- Establish and champion software engineering best practices, code quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering technical excellence through teaching and knowledge transfer
- Lead technical planning, customer engagements, and program reviews
- Quickly learn and adapt to a wide variety of technologies and lead tasks that small teams can execute
What Sets You Apart:
- Demonstrated ability to lead by teaching and developing technical talent across the organization
- Expert-level knowledge of GitHub/GitLab/Gitea pipelines and CI/CD automation
- Proficiency with Flask web framework for application development
- Deep expertise in Docker and/or Podman container creation and orchestration
- Strong background in Object Oriented Programming with Java or C++ and C programming
- Linux System Administrator capabilities and system-level expertise
- Advanced knowledge of multithreaded programming and concurrent systems
- Extensive development background in Unix/Linux based operating systems
- Proven ability to work cooperatively in team-oriented environments and drive collaborative success
- Strategic thinker who balances technical innovation with mission-critical requirements
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to influence organizational direction and technical strategy

- 15+ years of progressive software development experience with significant time in senior technical leadership roles
- Expert proficiency in C++ programming
- Experience with networking protocols and socket programming
- Change Management (CM) expertise

- Scripting languages expertise including Python, Bash, and Perl
- Advanced knowledge of Qt Framework for enterprise applications
- Strong background in Kubernetes orchestration at scale
- Expert-level understanding of Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) architecture
- Comprehensive knowledge of submarine systems, operations, and tactical mission requirements
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and scaling practices
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded programming, and performance optimization
- Background in high-bandwidth data recording and storage systems
