Project Candidate is not required to live in the Concord, NC area or Knoxville, TN. Candidates may live anywhere in the United States but living close to the Concord, NC area is preferred.
Job Purpose: You’ll supervise and assist our staff (design and construction teams) and ensure projects are delivered on time. As a lead superintendent, your duties will also include allocating and monitoring budgets and working side by side with crews to ensure project completion. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with various people, such as construction workers, military and government personnel, architects, and engineers. In order to succeed, it’s important to know how to implement quality, health, and safety standards onsite. If you are organized, able to work well under pressure and have experience in this field, we’d like to meet you. Travel is not mandatory. If you live more than 120 miles from the project, and are a traveling construction superintendent, DWR Construction Inc may in fact cover the cost to and from every project with provided housing (hotel or apartments throughout the US), daily transportation to and from the job site (rental car per team) and $40 a day per diem. Travel duration would vary from 2 - 4 weeks on the road between trips home. Travel is negotiable.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
• Set performance goals and deadlines
• Plan construction processes
• Estimate costs and ensure the project is on budget
• Supervise staff and provide constructive feedback
• Monitor and report on project progress
• Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities
• Implement safety and quality guidelines
• Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance
• Keep track of material stock and orders
• Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
• Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
Requirements
• Previous experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role
• Knowledge of secure government facilities and operations
• Knowledge of submittal process
• Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
• In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
• Familiarity with Bluebeam
• Manage construction schedule
• Proficiency in MS Office (outlook, excel, project and word)
• Organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to lead and inspire
• Ability to travel as needed to complete the project to any state in the USA
• Must be a US Citizen or Naturalized US Citizen (Contract Requirements, not DWR’s)
• Ability to organize traveling crews
• Budget rental cars, airfare, hotel and other direct costs
• Ability to pass a government background check and Federal guidelines on drug testing
• Must have a clean record. No Felonies. No Drinking/Drug Problems
