Duties

As a STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENTS MANAGER at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Assisting in the planning, organization, execution and oversight of Commander's Action Group (CAG) activities involving strategic engagements that directly impact Commander responsibilities and command mission accomplishment.
  • Representing the CAG with a variety of senior management officials of the Joint Staff, Department of Defense, the White House, the Congress, other Unified/Joint Commands, Armed Services, Federal, State and local agencies, subordinate organizations and senior civilian executives from major commercial industry segments for the purpose of coordinating strategic engagements, official visits and strategic messaging.
  • Serve as an advisor on strategy and policy for the USTRANSCOM Commander, and as a subject matter expert and researcher on a wide range of issues related to strategic policy planning, including but not limited to Joint Force strategy development, long-term planning and programming, and high-level interagency coordination throughout USTRANSCOM's global Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Serves as a representative for USTRANSCOM to OSD, the Joint Staff, the Services, and other U.S. departments and agencies during meetings, working groups, boards, and conferences pertaining to DoD governance, strategy/policy and planning efforts impacting the Commander's strategic objectives.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Providing oversight to the Commander's Action Group (CAG) personnel in planning, administering, evaluating, and improving 4-star sponsored programs, conferences, orientations, distinguished visitor events, and senior-leader engagements.
  • Developing, and applying program strategy, goals, objectives, priorities, plans, programs, policies, procedures and activities.
  • Directing, organizing, and carrying out high-priority engagements, special assignments, studies, and projects personally assigned by the Commander, Deputy Commander, or Commander's Action Group Chief.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
