Description:
HigherEchelon is seeking a Database Administrator to join our high-performance team spearheading our customer's (VA) data migration to and support/maintenance of databases in the cloud. Tremendous growth opportunity working within database cloud ecosystem and using cutting-edge technologies.
Job Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS).
• Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
• Monitor and maintain database performance, including tuning and optimization.
• Analyze and optimize database performance, including query optimization and index management.
• Conduct regular performance assessments and implement improvements to ensure optimal system performance.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and availability.
• Perform regular backups and recovery drills to ensure data can be restored in case of failures or disasters.
• Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
• Manage user access and permissions to ensure data security and compliance with organizational policies.
• Monitor database systems for performance, errors, and potential issues using monitoring tools.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks, including database patches and updates.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for database-related issues.
• Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to resolve database problems.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
• Create and update operational manuals and guidelines for database management.
• Ensure databases comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest developments and trends in database technologies and implement relevant improvements.
Required Skills:
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in database administration, preferably with Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Proven expertise managing and maintaining databases in AWS RDS, as well as monitoring and maintenance tools.
• Experience in database design and architecture.
• Proven experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
• Proficiency in deploying, managing, and configuring SQL Server and Oracle instances on AWS RDS.
• Knowledge of RDS-specific features like automated backups, snapshots, scaling, and read replicas.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server database architecture, management, and optimization.
• Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Experience with SQL Server backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Proficiency in Oracle database architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in PL/SQL programming and Oracle database optimization.
• Experience with query optimization and indexing strategies for both SQL Server and Oracle.
• Proficiency in using performance monitoring tools to diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
• Knowledge of database backup and recovery techniques, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience implementing and managing automated backup solutions.
• Understanding of database security best practices for both SQL Server and Oracle.
• Experience with user authentication, authorization, encryption, and data masking.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure data integrity and system stability.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with application developers and system administrators.
• Strong documentation skills for creating and maintaining database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and quality results.
• Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends in database management and cloud services.
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. and eight (8) years or more experience
• Advanced certifications are preferred, such as:
o Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
o Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
o AWS Certified Database - Specialty
