Data Scientist

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Scientist to join our Data and AI Practice. In this role you will be part of a cross-functional team of data engineers, machine learning engineers, software developers and business analysts to support the deployment and scaling of AI tools to achieve mission objectives. At MANTECH, you'll help protect our national security while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement. This is a fully on-site position in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• LLM Integration: Select and adapt base Large Language Models (LLMs) for secure environments, conducting parameter-efficient fine-tuning using SME-approved datasets.
• Generative AI Solutions: Develop and optimize agentic AI solutions, including prompt engineering and the creation of explainability layers that provide reasoning traces and confidence scoring.
• Validation & Monitoring: Execute "Red Team" tests to identify hallucinations or reasoning gaps; track system performance (accuracy, latency, coverage) and implement optimization strategies.
• Advanced Analytics: Apply statistical analytics and machine learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised) to forecast adversarial threats and intent.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Data Science, etc.) and 8 or more years of total professional experience in defense analysis, project leadership, or technical engineering.
• Hands-on experience with LLM fine-tuning, RAG architecture, MLOps, or algorithm development.
• Familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) or Department of Defense (DoD) data environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with specific tools such as Palantir, Databricks, AWS Bedrock, or geospatial visualization tools (ArcGIS/QGIS).

Clearance Requirements:

• Must possess a TS with SCI eligibility

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer.
