SciTec is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The Senior Accountant will be an essential part of the full-cycle general ledger close while ensuring compliance with both U.S. GAAP and Government Accounting Standards. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between commercial accounting and defense-sector compliance, managing project-based costs, intercompany transactions, and audit readiness in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for SciTec, including the preparation of journal entries and complex account reconciliations
  • Work with the Firefly corporate accounting team to manage intercompany reconciliations with Firefly, ensuring proper elimination and documentation, as well as develop and maintain intercompany billing processes
  • Assist the Firefly technical accounting group with researching and applying relevant accounting standards to SciTec revenue recognition, lease accounting, and other complex areas
  • Document and implement new accounting pronouncements
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial reporting to management and Firefly, including providing insightful variance analyses and financial commentary
  • Support the external audit process, including providing primary support for quarterly reviews, annual audits and periodic government contract audits (e.g., DCAA/DCMA)
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), as applicable
  • Maintain internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and support SciTec's implementation of SOX
  • Implement and maintain close-management tools (e.g., FloQast) to streamline the monthly close cycle

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with project-based ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, constraints, and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth, constantly changing environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Candidates who have one or more of the following qualifications will be preferred
  • CPA or an active pursuit of CPA
  • Prior experience in a publicly traded company and/or a Big 4/National accounting firm
  • At least 1 year in Government Contracting or Defense environment
  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint or similar GovCon-specific ERP software
  • FAR/DFARS experience
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Financial reporting experience

The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000/ year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills This is not a guarantee of compensation.
